Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma isn’t just the biggest film of his career in scale. It’s also setting records in business. The Telugu version’s theatrical business is set to touch around ₹50 Cr, the highest ever for a Naga Chaitanya film.
Vrushakarma Telugu Version Business
- Telugu States and Karnataka: close to ₹40 Cr
- Overseas and Rest of India: around ₹10 Cr
- Total: around ₹50 Cr
Dil Raju’s Big Bet
Dil Raju has acquired the rights for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka for close to ₹40 Cr. The deal had earlier been said to be finalised with Naga Vamsi, but it moved to Dil Raju in a last-minute twist.
The overseas and rest of India rights are expected to bring in another ₹10 Cr, taking the total for the Telugu version to around ₹50 Cr.
A ₹100 Cr+ Film
Vrushakarma has been made on a massive budget of over ₹100 Cr, by far the biggest for Naga Chaitanya. The film has also done good non-theatrical business, covering a large part of its cost before release.
More Than Just Telugu
The film is releasing in multiple languages, not just Telugu. The makers are expecting good numbers from the other versions as well, which could add a lot to its total business.
A Big Leap for Naga Chaitanya
Coming off the success of Thandel, Naga Chaitanya is aiming for a big leap with Vrushakarma. The mythological thriller is directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, who made the hit supernatural thriller Virupaksha, and is produced by BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra with Sukumar Writings.
With record business already locked, the pressure is now on the film to deliver. To recover ₹50 Cr, the Telugu version will need a strong opening and good word of mouth.
December 4 Release
Vrushakarma releases in theatres on December 4th.
